Fragments of Home: Eastern European Stories from Newham Exhibition Private View
1–18 September 2025
On Saturday 15th February, we held the public viewing of our collaborative exhibition 'Fragments of Home: Eastern European Stories from Newham', with all-day drop-in community workshops facilitated by project participants: collage-making with Elena Juzulenaite and photobooth by Zoltan Varga. Thank you so much to everyone who came, and to everyone who joined my workshops last year and supported this project. Until 18th September at Beckton Globe Library.
'Fragments of Home' began with a 2023 research commission from Rosetta Arts, Centrala, and Culture Within Newham, where I spent time in Newham stopping people in the street, chatting in shops, cafés and community centres. I asked what community activities they would like to see more of in their local area, often taking a photo afterwards. In 2024 I was invited to run a 6-month photography club at Beckton Globe, which was shaped by participants' needs, ideas and talents, focusing on our journeys and connections to the borough. The show was first displayed at Rosetta Arts earlier this year and now returns to Beckton Globe, where the sessions took place.
The exhibition is part of Newham Heritage Month, and features: Renata Drusktye, Nesd, Ella Natalia Hopkins (in collaboration with MIRIAM), Zoltan Varga, Elena Juzelenaite, and myself, working across photography, video, and textiles.
